Can’t validate that it works. Tried on apple tv coversion unsuccessfully but other factors may have been the cause.

Product works great and looks great. Only thing is, it doesn’t fit in my Gateway MX6128, The adapter needs to be flipped on the ide side.
That would get the SSD inside so the cover could be put back on.
So, If you don’t move your laptop, and don’t mind your drive hanging out the bottom, it works great.
That is why I gave it 4 stars. I will live with it until I get a micro SSD and adapter.

Bought this to recover data from a hard drive in a friends laptop that failed. It worked great as an interface to my old desktop computer. Worked first time I tried it. The only problem is I only needed it for this one task. It was worth the price, but I hate to throw it in the trash.

Would not fit my Laptop

This adapter is working in a Panasonic CF-29. I had to make a slight modification to the HDD case and remove the jumper.

Did not fit the laptop

It does not work. A 2.5″ SATA Hard Drive is not recognized when using the adapter. I wish I could send it back, but there was no paperwork in the box it came with
Steve Reyland –
Serves the purpose

Works but a bit flimsy of construction. As good as competition.

Yeah I don’t have to through away my laptop anymore that had an IDE interface. I was able to get to work in my Acer 9410. I couldn’t find any drives 2.5 with more than 180 gb’s. With this unit I can stick the new SSD cards in them.

A previous reviewer stated that it fits in a first generation AppleTV. I don’t understand how that is possible. The only thing that I can think of is that he may have installed the hard drive in the reverse orientation from the original orientation. This adapter increases the thickness required at the plug end of the drive to about 15 mm and increases the plug depth by approximately 10 mm. The depth increase prevents the case from closing when a new hard drive is mounted in the same location and orientation as the original hard drive. Keep in mind that the original drive in your case was like 7-10 mm thick, and this adapter increases the height to approximately 15 mm thick. Verify that you have enough space for the additional height at the plug end of the hard drive.

Added 1TB 2.5 SATA drive I got real cheap to older Dell desktop running Linux and works perfectly. Now using as a media center with sickbeard and couchpotato filling up the hard drive.

space for installing adapter critical, unless you have an older unit with plenty of extra space inside your screwed. Does not meet my needs

This works perfectly, even in my first generation Apple TV. I used this to make my MacBook Pro’s old 500 gigabyte SATA hard drive work with my Apple TV, which only accepts IDE/PATA drives. My Mac’s old 500 gigabyte hard drive is a lot bigger than the Apple TV’s original 40 gigabyte hard drive. Without this small adapter, I would not have been able to upgrade my Apple TV’s hard drive, or at least I would not have been able to do so as neatly as I did with this adapter.

Will not fit in either of my hp or Dell laptops. Adapter plugins need to be across from each other not of set.

Works like a champ (if you have room in your laptop for it). You may (like I had to) have to remove the jumper to make it work with your computer.
Customer –
This product does exactly what it is supposed to do. The only problem is that it does not fit the majority of laptops I have tried to use it in. Make sure you measure before you buy!
Olmectech –
They give the dimensions for the adapter, so make sure you measure your hard drive bay before you order. Make sure you include the hard drive size in the measurement also.
Dolores Clinton –
Big disappointment. My laptop is not ‘slim’, its considered a ‘desktop’ replacement, and larger than most laptops I’ve seen. This adapter is designed for a desktop….its too big for any laptop.
