    Best Powerbank Module
I never had a USB-C PD device until I recently got a Steam Deck. I’m an electronics nerd, but didn’t learn about USB-C PD until recently. I hate buying power banks since I already have plenty of Ryobi batteries that I can repurpose with the magic of 3D printing and power modules like this product from USBGear. Previously I’ve only made USB-A 5V 3A modules for my Ryobi batteries.I purchased a USB-C trigger module from Amazon to test the voltages output from this module and everything looked good at 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, and 20V. I don’t have an easy way to measure current on the USB-C port yet, but I measured the USB-A port and it cut off at 5.3v at 3.2A. Works great. Since my trigger module testing on the USB-C port looked good I finally connected my Steam Deck to it and it powered it as expected. I didn’t get a slow charge warning so it is working at the normal power the Steam Deck can handle. The Steam Deck needs 45W so this 60W module has extra to spare. Now I can power it remotely with a battery I already have.If you want to 3D print the same charger I made I’ll put the design on Thingiverse in the near future under the name of “Ryobi USB-C PD Adapter” or something along those lines. USBGear had CAD I could download from their website which allowed me to design the enclosure for their board before I received it. Thankfully their CAD was accurate since my enclosure was able to fit their module on my first design attempt.Parts needed:2x Keystone 209 Battery Clips (search online if not on Amazon)4x M3 x 30mm cap screws (holds enclosure closed)2x M3 x 4mm cap screws (holds board down)8” of 18AWG wire (screw into module terminals and solder other end to battery clips.Make sure you connect positive to positive and negative to negative. (I know it’s obvious, but it’s a simple mistake that could ruin your module and/or battery. I’m not sure if the module has reverse polarity protection.I bought a box of assorted M2, M3, and M4 screws from Vigrue here on Amazon that have been useful for a variety of 3D printing projects. You won’t need nuts for the screws on my 3D print. It should thread into the plastic just fine. Just don’t over tighten it or it will strip the plastic.

Awesome little board. Held up to my real world stress test as follows: A 2015 15″ MacBook Pro running a Windows 10 VM via Parallels, with Windows 10 performing a full defrag on the SSD. In other words, a full 57 Watts sustained output @ 20V with ~ 10.6V input (deliberately dropped it below 12V to see what would happen). Board pumps out the power!

Does not work with HP Spectre 13-ac023dx that uses 20V/2.25A USB-C as listed on back of laptop. The Coolgear CG69-60W does work this this laptop. As with many early implementations, HP locked out many PD sources. This laptop is hit and miss with other charging sources as well.

Awesome product, works very well and runs cool.
